Crown Princess Mary of Denmark gives opening address at Europe’s Beijing+20 regional review conferenceNovember 6, 2014 | Geneva, Switzerland

Task Force Member Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark gave the opening address at the Europe-Central Asia Beijing +20 regional review conference. She urged leaders at the regional and global levels to prioritize sexual and reproductive health and rights as part of the Beijing Platform for Action review as well as in the Post-2015 Development Agenda processes.

“The empowerment of women, the rights and empowerment of adolescents and youth, and universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights must be among the basic elements of a universal, people-centered, socially just and effective post-2015 agenda that will benefit all of humanity and which will yield high returns for both present and future generations,” she said.

HRH Crown Princess Mary also spoke at a public side event to the Beijing Conference on ‘Speaking Up on Silent Crimes – How to Address Sexual Violence Against Women and Girls in Conflict Situations’, and at a separate conference on FGM.
